Our Story
It's not living if it's not with you
It is not uncommon these days for people to meet on the internet. But how many people do you know who have met on Twitter? Picture it; the summer of 2019, Elliot was studying music in Boston and Spencer was working and living in Michigan. After one simple message, it snowballed into talking every second they could. Although they were hundreds of miles away, the connection was so tangible it felt like they lived down the street from each other.
After months of falling asleep over FaceTime and finding ways to make each other's days a little bit brighter, Spencer asked if he could come visit Elliot for a weekend. Like two puzzle pieces that were believed to have been lost but now found, they unequivocally completed each other's picture. Their shared love for amazing Italian food, playing video games, and traveling to different parts of the world made it clear that their connection was fate.
While Spencer was visiting again and enjoying the New England Spring, the world they knew would come to a hault. Without knowing what their future would hold, they would have to say goodbye and see if their connection could withstand the distance, fear, and uncertainty of what the future would hold.
But when true love is felt, you do anything to hold on to it. You know someone loves you when they drive 11 hours just to spend a weekend with you, or takes three COVID tests and wears two masks to safely fly to see them, to feel a sense of normalcy amongst a world that seemed to be doing everything in its' power to keep you two apart. After another year of falling asleep together on FaceTime and picturing what they would do when it all ended, Spencer and Elliot determined it was time to start a life together and do an All American Cross Country Roadtrip to sunny Los Angeles, California. As one of their favorite songs summarizes it best: "it's not living if it's not with you."
In some sort of way, our story feels like a modern take on a timeless movie trop: two lovers wanting to be together, the world trying its' best to keep them apart, but they end up happily ever after in the end. In every universe, in every timeline, in every scenario, they are each other's "one and only."
Thank you for letting us have our Carrie Bradshaw moment, and we are so excited to be celebrating with you in Palm Springs.
